Tales from the NOSE

Finally met with my ENT specialist this afternoon...

We went over my Sleep Study results... 13.5 events... which apparently is low in regards to sleep apnea (40+ events is a cause for REAL concern)...

My options are:
  1. Do nothing
  2. Have minor surgery to fix my septum (60-70% blockage on my right side)
  3. Have the surgery above and/or have some small implants in my soft palate
  4. Wear a CPAP for the rest of my life...

Although surgery always has its risks, it appears to be better than either the CPAP or do nothing (which my wife tells me may be grounds for DIVORCE)...

So, if anyone out there has experience with any of this, please add a comment...

I'd love to hear from you...

Great Place to Eat in San Diego

Next time your in San Diego, you need to check this place out:

www.jackandgiulios.com

Had a great dinner there this last Saturday after a long day at Sea World.

This old world Italian restaurant was two blocks walking distance from our Hotel in the 'Old Town' area of San Diego.

I started off with a Moretti on tap while my wife ordered their specialty Lemon Drop (our 17 year old Son had to be satisfied with Sprite)...

There were a variety of options available from the antipasti side of the menu, but my wife, son and I decide to split the 'Insalata California' after our server told us it would be enough for the three of us.  We also ordered some garlic bread to munch on.

The salad consisted of  chopped Romaine, avocado, chunks of Roquefort, bacon and an oil and balsamic dressing.  It was delicious and just the right size to split so we wouldn't fill up before our entrees arrived.  The garlic bread was not too thick, with just the right amount of garlic

My Son ordered the Fettucini Alfredo with Chicken.  It was a large portion with a lot of chicken.  The sauce was very light and not too salty, as you tend to find in some places.

My wife ordered the Gnocchi con Porcini along with a glass of Raymond Reserve Sauvignon Blanc.  WOW!  These were the best gnocchi ever!  Extremely fresh and light, they literally melted in your mouth.  The mushrooms were cooked just right and the sauce was delicate and flavorful. A perfect pairing with the Sauv Blanc.

I ordered the Filet Mignon in a rosemary/cognac sauce with a glass of San Felice Classico Chianti.  The steak was cooked perfect (medium) and the sauce was to die for.  It was served with a side of penne in a basil tomato sauce.  AWESOME indeed... I had to fight off both my wife and son... The Chianti was a little on the light side, but held up well to the rich sauce.

After sharing all three entrees with each other, we were too full to order any dessert, but I'm sure they would have been great as well...

The wine list is very moderately priced with a small selection of wines by the glass and half bottle, and a decent full bottle selection...

Give this gem a try and let me know what you think...

Random Thoughts...

Video blogging... almost there, but not yet... not 'smooth' enough on camera... hopefully soon...

Temecula this last weekend... fun, but most on the trip (7 of us) thought the wine was not good at all...  Are we 'wine snobs'...?  Could be, but most of then wines just had no power, pizzazz... just really, really, bland...

There were a couple of drinks... actually, both Ports... from Faulkner and Mt. Palomar... that were pretty good...

Finally... check this out short vid on ROI from Gary V... he's a lot more than just wine...

I don't know anyone who reads the paper anymore, except myself and my Dad...  :p

Leave me your thoughts...

And a special shout out to Colette Grob... hope you're feeling OK...

They are another live show today at 3pm:  http://www.ustream.tv/channel/titus_tv

Try to catch if you can... interesting stuff, especially since some of us are heading to Temecula Saturday... we may get to catch some harvest activities...

Let me know what you think...
